Our training on Saint Lucia culminated in "Kids' Activity Day". It was great fun for all of us -- kids and trainees alike!
The bigger kids played sports and had a litter-collecting contest. Smaller kids played board games, ball games, Simon Says, beaded bracelets, and worked on a brand new mural for their primary school. Some of the moms even brought "bakes" sandwiches and juice for lunch.
Jim was on the mural planning committee and I'm really proud of what a nice job they all did!! (see photos above)
The activity day was a real morale booster for us trainees. We finally felt as if we were DOING something. And the children were absolutely darling and fun to be around. As we walked home that night, we saw the older kids still wearing their team flags and the yourger ones asked us when the next fun day would be. Maybe we made a little difference!
