Hooray for vacation! We visited the last of the six Eastern Caribbean island nations served by our agency. A volunteer couple in our training group hosted us and showed us a great time! It was great to see them again. Of course we ate and yakked, sharing our experiences, successes, and challenges. St. Kitts is a clean island (no litter, nice highways), in contrast to the others we've seen. Even swearing is illegal! The south end of the island is given over to tourism, with a big tourist shopping mall, vendor huts along the beaches, and a big Mariott Hotel. Culture shock for us!! Not wishing to impose on our hosts, we spent the last two nights in a lovely local hotel with a view of the cruise ships coming and going. Met up with other Volunteers, too. It was like old home week!

We took a day trip to pretty little Nevis. We toured the Alexander Hamilton museum (he was born there), shopped the downtown for hardware and craft supplies (for our volunteer projects), and met up with some Volunteers who are posted there.
