Tropical Storm Hanna forms in Atlantic

MIAMI, FL -- The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Hanna has formed northeast of the northern Leeward Islands in the Atlantic.
The eighth tropical storm of the Atlantic season had top sustained winds near 40 mph Thursday. Its center was about 305 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and was moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph.
Hanna could produce rainfall of 1 to 4 inches across parts of the Leeward Islands. It's too soon to say if Hanna will affect the U.S.
We are fine!!!!!!!!!
It has been windy and raining very hard here off and on for the last couple of days. Our island is the very northernmost of the "northern Leeward Islands". ... about halfway down the red "tail" in the above picture. Even though Hannah is 305 miles away, we are getting quite a punch. This morning the wind hard rains awakened me at 5am and it is still raining. "1 to 4 inches" Bah. - per hour maybe!!
Our house is strong and cozy. The roof is currugated metal which sounds wonderful when the rain hits it. We have towels up against the back door to keep the rain from coming in under the door. The rain is coming from the west, which it never does. Weird.
The lot our house is on consists of about 14" of dirt and sand on top of a solid sheet of rock (trust me!). That means the water can't soak in, so it is pooling in the low spots. The house itself is on another 2 1/2 feet of foundation, so we won't be flooded. The island is so flat that much of the island would be under water before the water reached our doorstep. Maybe we will soon be in the middle of Lake Muir. LOL
The chickens have eschewed the nice dry coop lovingly built by Jim and Co. They prefer to sleep in the surrounding trees. With wind like this, I suspect many of them were blown right out of their little chickie beds last night. It is getting light outside so I need to go give them some chick feed.
